While in San Francisco I made it my business to go to City Lights Booksellers on Columbus Ave & the nearby Beat Museum which had rare edition prints & memorabilia from the likes of Kerouac, Ginsberg et al.
Picked up a few books and a small blank journal I can’t find.
Bought Where the North Sea touches Alabama by Allen C. Shelton. Should be an interesting read. Evidently all of the books sold there are hand picked by the staffers and while I was there I heard someone ask for Stephen King. There might have been more than a little haughtiness in the staffers reply of “Um…. No. I don’t carry any of his stuff here.”
That places takes their indie cred seriously.
